Cooper Housing Institute Awards $150,000 Grant to South County Outreach

The Cooper Housing Institute (CHI) has awarded a $150,000 grant to South County Outreach (SCO) to support its mission of ending hunger and homelessness in Orange County. This significant investment reflects CHI’s commitment to making housing a national priority and empowering organizations working on the frontlines of housing insecurity.

SCO will use the grant in two key areas:

• Direct Rental Assistance: This funding will help an estimated 30 households avoid eviction and remain stably housed during financial crises.
• Staffing and Infrastructure: These resources will strengthen SCO’s capacity by supporting its case managers and infrastructure as they guide families toward long-term self-sufficiency.

“Our goal at Cooper Housing Institute is to invest in effective, community-based solutions that keep families housed,” said Will Cooper, Jr., founder and president of CHI. “We believe that by supporting organizations like South County Outreach, we can help families break the cycle of homelessness and build stronger, more resilient communities.”
